Paris, FRANCE–Twelve enormous blocks of Greenland ice were dumped outside the Place du Pantheon in Paris while the crucial climate change summit is being held in the French capital to hammer out a new, universal deal that would enforce countries to reduce their carbon emissions.
The ice blocks were arranged in a clock that is telling people who see the exhibit that the time is running out in addressing the issue on climate change.
Artists behind the project led by Olafur Eliasson of Ice Watch said the blocks were taken from free-floating icebergs in a fjord outside Nuuk, the capital of Greenland.

“ Let’s transform climate knowledge into climate action,” said Eliasson. “ As an artist, I hope my works touch people, which in turn can make something that may have previously seemed quite abstract more a reality.”
Eliasson added,” Art has the ability to change our perceptions and perspectives on the world, and Ice Watch makes the climate challenges we are facing tangible. I hope it will inspire shared commitment to taking climate action.”
